Are you concerned with amount of sodium or other additives you may be using when flavoring your vegetable or meat dishes? Are you looking for ways to add a variety of flavors to your recipes without adding calories or preservatives?   Just want to add some “zing” to your recipes? Then learning to cook with aromatics is the answer to your concerns.

Aromatics are herbs, spices and vegetables (and sometimes meat) that are cooked in oil as a base for the flavor of a dish. Cooking them in oil helps to release their flavors and aromas, creating a deep flavor foundation for soups, stews, sauces, meat fillings and more.

Join us Saturday, March 21, at Evermore Farm for our workshop on “Cooking with Aromatics to Add Flavors and Aromas”.  The workshop will run from 2:00 pm- 3:30 pm. You will receive instruction on specific aromatic blends for different flavors, a guide for preparing the blends, information on where and how to purchase the freshest ingredients, and answers to your questions on preparation and storage of these blends. Each participant will also receive a pack of Evermore Farm Heritage Beef stew cubes to take home as a base for their next aromatic beef stew at home.

Class instructor will be Jennie Landean, a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.  She has a wealth of knowledge about food and cooking. She has conducted our Sous Vide cooking demonstrations in the past. She also helps in our farm store on Saturdays. Jennie knows her stuff!
